Salesforce Moves to Acquire Informatica in $8 Billion AI Push

Salesforce Inc. has announced plans to acquire Informatica Inc. for approximately $8 billion in cash, as part of its strategy to enhance its artificial intelligence capabilities—specifically in “agentic AI,” where systems autonomously execute tasks with independent decision-making. This deal will bring Informatica’s expertise in data integration, governance, metadata management, and master data management into Salesforce’s ecosystem, enabling a unified architecture for advanced AI functionality. Shareholders of Informatica will receive $25 per share, with the acquisition expected to close early in Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027. The move strengthens Salesforce’s platform for enterprise-level AI while boosting its position in data-cloud and AI markets.
